Wavealution

The World Series began tonight. Before the televised game began there was an interesting mini-documentary on the merits of baseball. It was narrated by actor Michael Douglas and the key quotes were read alternately by Senators Obama and McCain--with the closing quote ready simultaneously by both senators. Compelling.

Commentators are calling this game a Wavealution instead of revolution because of the underdog Tampa Bay team qualifiying and their fans 'waving' their team on to victory.

I love baseball but it is a lot less fun when the two teams playing in the Series are two teams for which I have no personal interest. Don is favoring the underdog Rays because this is their first time at bat for the Series. Yah, well I usually endorse the underdogs. too. Yet since I am generally a National League fan anyway and since tonight's Phillies' pitcher was Cole Hamels who hails from Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, I am rooting for the Phillies.

For those who are not paying attention to the ballgame, I just want to let you know that Taco Bell is repeating its really cool offer of a free taco to every person in America for the first stolen base in the game. And sure enough, Chase Utley stole the first base of the game and you can now claim your free taco on October 28th between 2:00-6:00 p.m.

If you are like me, you probably aren't interested in claiming a taco even if it is free. Here's what I suggest: Contact everyone you know by phone or e-mail and get the word out so that the street people or folks who could really benefit from a free meal find out about this. I am being serious. Chances are that the homeless folks of America are not watching the game and don't have this information. If you know of a local shelter or have people you see every day or week on a nearby corner, create a handout flier and put this information and the addresses of the nearest Taco Bell locations and distribute it to them as you pull up to their corner.

Create a Waveloution to end hunger and support our national pasttime.
