Life is going forth...New year, new month and all. In some ways, it is hard to believe that only a few days ago was New Years Day.
Welcome to Nancy Pelosi and the new congress. Sending them Light.
An overcast day and rainy night. Clearing the way for Epiphany.
I would like to go on record as extolling the virtues of peanut butter. What a wonderful thing Mr. Carver made possible for us. Peanut butter has always been a favorite from kidhood on into adulthood. And tonight, along with my soup, I fixed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and simply took time to appreciate that creation. (Yeah, OK, so I had it on Orowheat Light bread which is only 40 calories a slice.... but who asked ya?)
As much as I love writing this blog (and having you read it) I hope that you as a reader continue to read books. All types of books and not just the self-help variety.Even though this week, I bought myself a new book called, A Perfect Mess. It is a book that proposes the healthy side of clutter. So look out all you Virgos and neatniks who have glanced askew at me over the years for my messy desk and such, as it may turn out that I have been more creative as a result of that inclination. I might even see about teaching a class on the book if I get authors' permission and I can find my notes!
And according to researchers at the University of Connecticut, political correctness is making us more stoopid. Because learning centers and schools are not teaching the classics of literature we are not producing graduates with a full, well-rounded education. It is not politically correct these days to teach Shakespeare, Austen except to expose the racism and oppression of which they wrote. These researchers and authors are now saying that by graduation, college students have learned that everything that happened before they were born was either irrelevant or wrong.
Unless of course, it was a sports celebrity.
According to Music Choice on Cox Cable, debate ensues as to whether or not Tchaikovsky committed suicide due to a sex scandal or died of cholera. Hmmm. Wonder who is debating this hot issue these days . . ?
This week, I had a new Starbucks drink creation. I had a Dirty Chai Latte. Ambrosia in a cardboard cup. Oh, FYI that Starbucks stores are starting to do away with bakery products that contain trans fats. One store in Mira Mesa is even selling the wonderful little Kashi granola bars now. (Oh so yummy and lots of fiber, too). Which reminds me that for those of you who are uninitiated, and interested in healthy eating, check out the wonderful Hungry Girl website:
