Howdy, y'all!
Yep, I am gonna be talkin' like this few awhile, dontcha know...
Y'all are at church and I am in the business center of the hotel borrowing their (GULP) PC to enter today's blog. My roomie has left--as has most of the Convo guests. Rev. Michael and I are staying till tomorrow because we thought the UCORS Cabinet was meeting today. Yesterday, the closing events got crammed in to the evening program and we are actually free today. I coulda come home a day early (sorry, Sammy)...but then we would not have had the privilege of Rev. Kevin Bucy "coming home" to Pacific Church today. I am eager to hear the tape; and see how he enjoyed it, too.
It was crisp this morning, the sun is now out but a strong breeze. Rev. Sharon and I went into the Grove Arcade area and had brunch at the Laughing Seed --an international vegetarian restaurant. I had Tofu Benedictine. Yum. And organic coffee that was pretty decent. A little bit of shopping and then she is off to the airport. I shall use this day to walk, think, meditate and reflect on the amazing events of this powerful week.
Asheville in Autumn calls to me. I would LOVE to see this place in October. The greenery (which would turn russet) the scenery, the people. A return visit to The Asheville Center for Spiritual Living and the wonderful Revs Barbara & John Waterhouse. This is a very spiritual and conscious city. Lots of recycling, vegetarian options, Eastern influences in all the stores; and of course, the Native American legacy. Very powerful and peaceful all at once.
I have so much to share when I return. I shan't tip my hand here with any of the details. I leave the blog to more of the travelogue aspect. I also know when I return, it will be a time of faith, trust and surrender as we MOVE forward as a church. The shift was at hand or afoot before I left; I know the Home Team has been quite busy and with the transformation that took place here--here we go!
There is much to be said for travelling; and as a result, always much to say about coming home. I miss so many things, so many people. I am thankful for those that make it possible for me to journey outwardly so that I may journey inwardly and return home fed and ready to share.
See y'all soon.
With love,
Rev. DD

Welcome home sweet Reverend! Glad to have you back safely.
Thank you God!
It's good to know you are returning home renewed and refreshed. We welcom you with open, loving arms.
Hi Rev Duchess...you should have seen Sammy, lying in the sanctuary in the middle of a circle of children tending to his every need. I heard he was allowed to snack on a few veggies, but no junk food! Rev Kevin was indeed interesting.. he also asked us to "leave home." (better listen to the tape!) Can you believe I received a telephone message from the Church ( who put John up to this?) just to say "we appreciate you at the church?" I was so grateful for this call, as no one ever calls to say that. Welcome back to SD.
Love, Michael M
