Last September, I loudly whined, wailed and bemoaned the fact that ABC cancelled my one and only soap opera addiction, "All My Children." It had been on for forty-plus years and I had been watching since the very first episode.
As of April 29, 2013, at the good graces of modern technology, AMC is now back...online on Hulu.com.
Yes, Lazarus has rolled away the stone and returned to Pine Valley along with many of the other original characters (and actors). Sad to say, that some of the beloved PV denizens are not among them. (I shan't say who right now.... it is only the second week).
It amuses me to note that Mondays are my days off and I just happened to be surfing the web and following up on the lead about the show's return. Holy Hulu, Batman, there it was ripe for the watching. And it stirred my nostalgic memory of the fact that I was sick and home from school the day of the first episode and lying on the couch with nothing better to do but watch TV. I probably was on ABC waiting for "Password" to come on and watched it because I didn't feel like getting up to change channels and we didn't have a remote control waaaaay back then. I never really liked the soaps my grandmother always watched so I don't know why I watched this one but I did. I don't remember how many days I stayed off from school or how many episodes I watched but whenever I was home, I watched AMC. As an adult, I continued the pattern when I was home for a quick bite of lunch from work or admittedly while unemployed.
It's pretty unlikely that I will become a regular viewer again. For one thing, I am not fond of watching television or movies on a computer screen. Once in awhile, it is a great bonus to do so if I catch up on something via Hulu or I am travelling using the iPad. The other factor is that "AMC"has had to add so many new characters to keep the show young and alive and I don't feel the same attachment or interest. And then there's that time thing... you know, how much time it would add to be sitting at the computer even more than I already do. At least, when it was on T.V. one could multitask a bit more and even view from the kitchen while preparing a meal or snack.
Whether I watch regularly or grab a quick sneak peek on the fly, the point is that whoda thunk that our technology would allow for such a reincarnation. I doubt that when Agnes Nixon created the show; or when ABC cancelled it, anyone thought it would have an afterlife. So I do find an odd type of comfort knowing that Pine Valley lives on.
Who knows, maybe they will get Shirley MacLaine to make a guest appearance . . .

I read only a few lines of your blog and rather quickly found myself looking vicariously at your navel; however, I did notice with wonderment that your favourite book is the dictionary.
Given this, I decided it's only fair to let you know of an extraneous curly wurly contained within.
You know, when you start a sentence with 'you know', it's only a question if 'do' or 'did' is implied at the start. This can be inferred by the absence of a comma after you know, you know?
Anyway, please remove the offending curly wurly which is currently appending 'awnings' in your 'about me' blurb.
Please note that I am a grammaticaster and not a grammarian. Please do look that word up. After which, you'll realise that I'm not all bad.
