Linus-Less

Mid-week, we saw that John was at the house and Don went over to check on Linus' status.

Of course, they were not going to abandon Linus (or Oreo) they love them. The housemates were just busy getting moved and settled. John said they had not gotten the letter or the cat toys we left for them so they couldn't have called or sent us an e-mail. And yes, that is why they left the garage door up a foot so that the cats could come and go to get food and shelter.

I never really thought anyone would abandon Linus --my overactive maternal worry-wart persona kicked in and well, frankly, if I am to be fully honest (and why wouldn't I?) I kinda hoped that Linus could join our family so it was easy to go into a "what-if" scenario that would give us the adoption option.

When we walked back to the house the next day, I felt myself clutch because the garage door was fully up and the place empty. I saw that Oreo was on the front doorstep eating and out of the corner of my eye, I saw one--only one--kitty carrier off to the side of the driveway. I quickly assessed in my mind that they already transported Linus and came back to claim Oreo before a final exit. We walked around the house and no one seemed to be around to inquire. By the next day, the driveway was clear and the garage door fully closed. They were gone for sure.

Tearfully, I regretted not being able to say goodbye. And then I knew that we had already shared our farewells. No wonder Linus was so determined and persistent to come into the house and be with us. He knew that it was almost time to move on and he always knew that it was important for all of us--Belle included-- to have this very intimate time of hanging out together and appreciating our friendship. Once I realized how wise he had been forcing our hand at letting him in the house (I still get a big chuckle when I think how he looked hanging onto the screen door) I get calm and not so doleful.

Don and I will walk over to the neighborhood where we think he said they were moving. I know will see him again. In the meantime, I am ordering a USB cable so that I can transfer the photos from my cell phone into the computer and be able to post on the site. I also assuage myself at not having the opportunity to 'foster' Linus is because we are still meant to add a canine to our family before the end of the year.

Maybe this animalia adventure helped get Belle ready.

You never know - you said they didn't move far -- you might just have a kitty come a-visiting :)

Looking forward to the pictures!

Incredibly, I see the Google Ad on your blogsite is for a product that "Eliminates tear stain on cats." Maybe Linus was as upset as we were at departing.

I just walked over to his house and asked the last remaining resident if she was done moving and she said "Almost." It seems that the four people that lived there are all moving to different places. Jenna, said that she "missed Linus already". I told her the story of the adventure we had with him at our house. She was not at all surprised. She said that he was very unhappy for a couple of weeks before the move. Oreo was even worse - extremely upset. I told her we noticed that.

Jenna said that she got our note and would e-mail us with addresses, etc. and have us over for dinner. Very nice young people.
