Autumn is a special event for me. I look forward to the autumnal equinox more than any other time o' season. It is the start of my soulluar new year because I feel more connected to the cosmos during autumn than any other time.
Yesterday at church, I asked people to share with one another what was their favorite season and why. Someone I spoke to said he had a hard time choosing because he loved elements of each season. Then he realized that perhaps what he really liked best is the transition time between the seasons before the new season began and he could anticipate its beauty and specialness. Sounds like a type of seasonal foreplay and I could appreciate that.
Until now, I have never lived as an adult anywhere where I might actually experience the real feeling of autumn.
Until now...I have been promised a real autumn, so I am planning to acquaint myself with Bidwell Park so that I may really spring into fall.
(Oh, I couldn't resist....)
The weather is already changing here. I am automatically gravitating toward autumnal colors and foods. And the pennant race is heating up.
GO CUBBIES!
And a fond farewell to Yankee Stadium.
As with most folks, I have mixed emotions for those 'Damn Yankees' but as a tried and true baseball fan, the closing of the historical Yankee Stadium cannot go unnoticed. Yet, this year is all about change so I guess it is only fitting to bring that field up to par with the times. I only regret that I did not get to visit the house that Ruth built.
It is a big week with baseball, autumn's arrival and of course, the return of "Dancing with the Stars." I am tickled that this season includes both Cloris Leachman and Susan Lucci.
You go girls!
And I have to go now and contemplate the arrival of the Great Pumpkin next month.
