Father's Day 6-18-06

Today is a big day in a lot of small ways.
(Almost oxymoronic, huh?)

Let's see--- as I mentioned in Sunday service today, Paul McCartney turned 64 today. 64???!!! For those not of my boomer generation, the significance in that is that he wrote and recorded a song back in 1967 titled, "When I am 64" and when it aired waaaay back then, it seemed so far away; and so incomprehensible. And now... he is 64. ah well. And then, this week, Billy Preston passed away and he was so significant in many musical collaborations with The Beatles.

Did you know that currently only 5% of bloggers are over 50 years of age?

And then in clergy news: Episcopalians elect 1st female national leader
The Episcopal Church on Sunday elected Nevada Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori as the first female chief pastor of the denomination and the first female leader in the history of the world Anglican Communion. WOW! That is so cool. Many people are worried about what this means to the denomination --especially after ordinaing an openly gay minister. Personally, I think it is a strong and healthy sign of healing, growth and spiritual realism.

I would hope that Episcopalians would see how their denomination is growing and embracing more.

Our new site is so church-like. It has a very different feel but I like it.

This is my first blog comment and it really doesn't have to do with Episcopalians... even though my mother was one. I wanted to post a comment about the Pacific Church Taize Service.

I just wanna say that I love Taize and I apprecaite those who serve on the Taize team, those who attend regularly and those to are brave enough to come home to their light for the first time on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

It seems that we are currently in a bit of, shall I say flux, regarding the future location of the 2nd Wednesday Taize Service... I'm pretty sure the July service will be in Mission Valley. I want to offer a prayer that Taize will continue in the perfect safe place for all who wish to come home to their light.

There's my two cents on Taize.
Peace to you, love to you and light to you.

Wait a minim.....
