"Moving Right Along..."

"Moving Right Along..."
I remember Kermit singing that happy song in the first Muppet Movie. And that is the type of glee I feel when I think of our moving to a new Sunday location for services.
Yes, it's true, I am looking forward to a move.
And I have certainly had my share since coming to San Diego. The dreaded four letter word: M O V E
If you change one letter you have the word LOVE--so let's do that instead. Let's LOVE our move.

Yes, this move is giving us the opportunity to grow as a community; to be in better financial integrity with our income and expenses. Bigger than that (and that is no small thing) is the wonderful opportunity that this change affords us. A fresh new page for Pacific Church is writing as we celebrate 20 years and move into our new chapter. Many things at church had became stagnant and by rote, now we can approach everything with the fresh eyes of Spring and new beginnings and build anew the community we wish to be.

Our new church site is really on holy ground being that it is encsconced between two other churches and already "prayed up" by the Seventh Day Adventists themselves before building their beautiful new sanctuary. The gorgeous natural surroundings add to the beauty; the peace and the quiet...ah, as much I love the greenery outside my office window, we were still having church in the middle of a business park in a business district. Our new church home--inside and out--is so welcoming.

A few of us did view a new site yesterday that is a possible Home Base for classes and offices. And we will continue to be open to our right new space. Meanwhile, John and Patti and I are staying busy with the minutia of the first move. Each day, we uncover more things to do. I have been having sleepless nights waking at all hours with the lists looming large on my mind. B R E A T H E . . . .

I am glad to know so many people are stating to read my blog--even if they don't always reply. In fact, I know there are people outside the church community, even outside of San Diego who are reading. COOL!

Moving right along...

When you are in the gap, get out your map! That is what Rev Phears always says! So I guess it is time for Pacific Church to continue Meditation/Affirmation/Prayer.. I think that is it!

As one who has moved from DC to Portland, OR, to San Diego to LA, to Honolulu and now "sharing" time between SD and Sacramento, I can understand the slight external chaos of change. But it is the inside perfection that counts isn't it? We may walk on earth, but we live in heaven! (Michael Beckwith).

Does anybody know if Sammy can still herd the faithful flock at the new church?

Congratulations to Rev. Duchess and PCRS on your new church home! At the Downtown Community Church/San Diego Center For Spiritual Living, we have been keeping you in prayer for your new home that meets all your needs. This, with office space, seems to do just that! How wonderful that you are able to share sacred space and be surrounded by other churches. We will continue to hold you in prayer during your move and settling-in time. Again, Congratulations!!
Love & Blessings,

Great job capturing the feelings that you have and paving the way for all of us to "love" this move.

I love this new site already and I know as soon as everyone has seen it, they will feel the energy that is very present in that wonderful space.

I am so looking forward to June 4th even with the enormous job that awaits us.

I must admit to feeling pretty reluctant about the church move at the start. But I did understand that it was necessary for the financial good of the church. And... now that I've had a chance to see the site of the new Sanctuary, I feel excited about this change! The neighborhood is wonderful, with hills and canyons and lots of grass and trees. And the church site itself is beautiful: open, nicely landscaped, with a really good energy. There are two other equally beautiful churches on either side-- one Lutheran, one Catholic-- and the lovely new Seventh Day Adventist Sanctuary adjoins the one we will be using. Talk about holy ground! This just might be a wonderful place for Pacific Church to move into its next unfoldment ...
