Trees, trees, TREES!

Howdy y'all!
I am blogging to you from the Crowne Pointe Hotel in Asheville, N.C. and it is gorgoeus. Did I mention the trees? Green abounds--and makes up for the dearth of Starbucks green awnings.

Long travel day yesterday. Bumpy puddle jumper flight to Asheville from Cincinatti. Where I indulged in a brief waft of Cincinatti Reds mania from the airport. Rev. Michael was kind enough to allow our layover to be at Cincinatti instead of Atlanta so I could look for Ken Griffey, jr. stuff. We will do our layover in Atlanta on our return. And CIncinatti airport shares itself with the Northern Kentucky airport and so there were Kentucky Derby stuffs all over the place, too.

The Asheville airport is tiny. The baggage claim carousel only goes around twice a flight, so if you stop for any reason between the tarmack and the claim, you miss your luggage and you have to go to the ticketing desk to claim your luggage. On the way, there are men sitting around a table playing cards. Oh, and they smoke in these here parts. No, Dorothy, we're not in San Diego anymore.

Dogwoods are blooming but they have no scent. Don't you think that odd? Name a plant DOG wood and it has no fragrance whatsover?

Birds sing differently here-- much more melodic. I guess I would be too if I had this veiw and this plethora of verdant options upon which to extoll nature's glory.

Time change/jet lag thingie to start. Went to bed late last night after staying up chatting with my roomie. Then, I was waiting for Sammy to wake me and so I stayed very still and slept very hard. My roomie finally managed to wake me 5 minutes before our first business planning meeting. EEEK.

Definitely different fare at the breakfast buffet and no tea and only Folger's coffee. We;ve gone amber--CHAI ALERT! Wonderful, Dr. John Waterhouse (whose native home/church this is) took pity upon me and drove me into town for my Starbucks fix. I was still disoriented. When we arrived there was a 9 week old Jack Russell outside, so I not only got my canine fix--I got puppy breath! By then, I returned to my body and could function. Had a latte and muffin and all was right with the world.

Today, is the welcoming of all the ministers and registration and tonight's ope

You sound like an "accidental tourist" with your Starbucks fixations.

If you get the chance to tour Camp Lejeune, on the other hand, skip it. It is the armpit of the universe, trully!

Have some grits for me, okay? I miss southern breakfasts. One of those and you won't have to eat again that day. Or week for that matter.

Love ya,
Kathleen
